Mod Podge Message Board Tutorial

Well this is my first attempt at doing a tutorial with pictures so bear with me a bit. I am new at this but I am ready to give it a try. First I started with a plain old boring Message Board that I got from Target.

Excuse the horrid carpet in my craft room, but it is a craft room after all. I gathered up my supplies (AKA the usual suspect):

Mod Podge

Glittery Wrapping Paper

Scissors

Epoxy resin mold

Paint Brush

Sandpaper

Paper Cutte

Wet Ones

Now we are ready to go

With any Mod Podge project you want to sand the surface that you will be adhering your paper to. I gave the whole board a good once over until it lost it's sheen.

I have to remember to do my nails before the next tutorial

2. Sanding time fun.

Dull and boring, but good glittery love is about to come this way.

3. I washed the whole surface with a wet one. I am sure good old soap and water would work just fine. I'm just a little on the lazy side. The point of this step is to remove all dust from your sanding.

4. Prepare your paper. I measured the width and depth of the sides of my board and cut strips of the wrapping paper about half an inch wider. If you don't have yummy glitter wrapping paper you can go ahead and use scrapbook paper, fabric, or even newspaper.

I love this paper. I am going through a bit of a black and white phase right now, what can I say.

5. Break out the Mod Podge andcover your frame with it. I did one side at a time.

6. Cover the back of your paper and apply on your frame.

Smoothing over the boring old black board for some glittery black and white goodness.

7. Voila you are done! Wait at least twenty minutes then apply an additional coat of Mod Podge to seal the frame of your board. Extra points if you get glitter Mod Podge (I can't believe I didn't)

Finished Product. I actually found it a little boring so I added this optional step...

8. Get out your glue gun and glue a ribbon to the section where your cork board meets your write and wipe board. I even added a little bow. I think it kicks the whole project up a notch.

The Finished Product

The whole project took about an hour to complete. I loved sprucing up my office on the cheap and just think of all of the frames you can kick up a notch. Regular picture frames, Message boards, cork boards, the list goes on and one. Mod Podge is one of my favorite mediums ever. If you have yet to rock it you really need to start working with it now.
