Washington State Pro-Hobbyist Inoperable Vehicle Bill Needs Your Final Push

Time is running out on SEMA model legislation (S.B. 5586) to protect backyard hobbyist restoration and collection.  The bill must be voted on TODAY(Feb. 14) if it is to have any chance to be considered this year in the Washington House of Representatives!  Senate Majority Floor Leader Tracey Eide needs to hear from you now.  She can bring the bill to a vote.

S.B. 5586 would prohibit cities or towns from enforcing an ordinance, development regulation, zoning regulation, or administrative practice that prevents automobile collectors from pursuing their hobby.  Six or fewer junked, wrecked or inoperable vehicles, including parts cars, stored on private property would only require screening from public view if required by local law.  S.B. 5586 demonstrates a real effort by legislators and hobbyists to enact reasonable and fair compromise legislation.

DON’T DELAY!  Please contact Senate Majority Floor Leader Tracey Eide by phone to request a vote on S.B. 5586.  Thank you for your assistance.
