Vermont Legislature Adjourns

The Vermont legislature failed to pass SAN-supported, pro-hobby legislation in 2022 prior to the adjournment of the session. To follow is a brief summary:

  • Legislation (H. 675) to implement a fair testing procedure based on SEMA-model legislation for vehicle owners accused of exhaust noise violations. The House Transportation Committee failed to consider the bill.

  • Legislation (H. 649) to reduce safety and emissions inspections to every other year. The bill required a biennial emissions or on board diagnostic (OBD) system inspection for vehicles that are 16 model years old or less instead of an annual inspection. The bill also required biennial safety inspection and visual emissions inspection for all motor vehicles instead of the current annual inspection. The House Transportation Committee failed to consider the bill.

  • Legislation (H. 61) to require the display of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for all passenger vehicles with a registered weight of 10,000 pounds or less. The House Transportation Committee failed to consider the bill.

  • Legislation (H. 307) to require the display of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for all passenger vehicles with a registered weight of 10,000 pounds or less. This bill also would have allowed window shading or tinting material on the side and vent windows to the left and right side of the driver. The House Transportation Committee failed to consider the bill.

Thank you to everyone who voiced support for these efforts.
