Utah Resolution to Urge Restoration of the Bonneville Salt Flats Approved by Governor

A House Resolution (HCR 8) urging the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to restore the Bonneville Salt Flats was approved by the Utah House and Senate and signed by Governor Gary Herbert.  The Bonneville Salt Flats is a national treasure, but for motorsports enthusiasts world-wide, it is much more.  From the first speed record attempts in 1914 and through the present day, hundreds of records have been set and broken in a variety of automotive and motorcycle classes.

HCR 8 calls attention to the deterioration of the Bonneville Salt Flats and urges the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to work with the Utah Alliance, Save the Salt Coalition and other concerned stakeholders to formulate a plan to restore the Bonneville Salt Flats International Speedway.  The resolution also urges the U.S. Congress and Utah's congressional delegation to take action to ensure that the Bonneville Salt Flats International Speedway is restored to safe racing conditions.
