Rhode Island Introduces Bills to Adopt Internal Combustion Engine Ban

Overview: Lawmakers in Rhode Island have introduced SAN-opposed legislation (H. 6055/S.195) which would adopt California’s low and zero emission motor vehicle standards and ban the sale of new gas- and diesel-powered motor vehicles starting in 2035. The SAN believes that Californians should not be deciding what vehicles are best for Rhode Island. H. 6055 is awaiting consideration in the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee and S. 195 is awaiting consideration in the Senate Environment and Agriculture Committee.
