Overview: SAN-opposed legislation (H.B. 56) has been introduced in New Mexico to require front and rear license plates on all vehicles. Currently, all vehicles are required to display only a single, rear-mounted license plate. Similar legislative proposals have failed to be approved after a strong outpouring of enthusiast opposition in prior years. The bill awaits consideration in the House Transportation & Public Works Committee.
