Nebraska Single Plate Bill Introduced

DON’T DELAY!  Please contact the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee immediately to request support for L.B. 38:

You may use the following points in your message:

  • L.B. 38 would save money, conserve resources and bring Nebraska in line with other states that have moved to a single plate requirement.

  • L.B. 38 would protect the aesthetic contours of cars and relieve vehicle owners of the burden of having to create mounting holes on some original bumpers.

Overview: Legislation (L.B. 38) has been introduced in the Nebraska Statehouse to require the issuance of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for all motor vehicles. In 2016, Nebraska passed into law legislation that allowed owners of vehicles not originally equipped with a front bracket to request a single license plate (for a $100 annual fee). The bill is currently awaiting consideration in the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee.
