Minnesota Legislature Adjourns

The Minnesota legislature failed to pass legislation impacting the auto hobby in 2022 prior to the adjournment of the session. To follow is a brief summary:

  • SAN-supported legislation (H.F. 359) for the issuance of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for special interest vehicles. Special interest vehicles are defined as those owned for leisure purposes, driven less than 10,000 miles per year, and are not used for general transportation. The House Transportation Finance and Policy Committee failed to consider the bill.

  • SAN-opposed legislation (H.F. 3520) to increase the standard biofuel blend to 15% ethanol. The bill had an exemption for retailers who sell less than 500,000 gallons of gasoline/biofuel per year who are not equipped to store and dispense E15. The House Commerce Finance and Policy Committee failed to consider the bill.

  • SAN-opposed legislation (S.F. 944) to increase the standard biofuel blend to 15% ethanol. The bill had an exemption for retailers who sell less than 300,000 gallons of gasoline/biofuel per year. The Senate Agriculture and Rural Development Finance and Policy Committee failed to consider the bill.
