Legislation (S.B. 1146) that would amend the state’s current law governing historic motor vehicles to permit their unlimited use as “exhibition” vehicles the entire month of August each year was introduced in Michigan by Senator Mike Kowall. Under current Michigan law, use of historic vehicles is limited to participation in club activities, exhibitions, tours, parades, and similar uses, including mechanical testing, but not for general transportation.
We Urge You to Contact Members of the Senate Committee on Transportation (List Below) in Support of S.B. 1146
- S.B. 1146 will provide Michigan historic vehicle owners the opportunity to enjoy recreational driving in the month of August in addition to the other sanctioned uses.
- S.B. 1146 provides added incentive to owners of qualifying historic vehicles (more than 25-years old) to register as “historic.”
