Maryland Bills Fail to Meet Legislative Deadline

The Maryland legislature failed to pass legislation impacting the auto hobby in 2022 prior to the required legislative deadline. To follow is a brief summary:

  • SAN-opposed legislation (H.B. 46/S.B. 104) to enact a biennial $14 fee on motor vehicles that are exempt from the state’s Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program, including historic vehicles and street rods. The House Environment and Transportation Committee and the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee failed to advance their respective bills.

  • SAN-supported legislation (H.B. 1383) to allow for the registration of military surplus vehicles. The House Environment and Transportation Committee failed to advance the bill.

Thank you to everyone who contacted lawmakers about these efforts.
