URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT (UPDATE)
Maryland Bill to Allow Single License Plate for Hobby Cars Goes to Conference Committee
House legislation (H.B. 524) to require the issuance of only a single license plate to historic vehicles that are 60 years old and older was amended by the Senate and sent back to the House for concurrence. Under the Senate amendments, all historic vehicles and street rods would be permitted to run a single plate. As the House did not concur with the Senate amendments, a conference comprised of members from by the House and Senate has been convened to work out a compromise. We are supporting the Senate amendments!
We Urge You to Contact All Members of the Conference Committee (List Attached) Immediately To Request Support for the Senate Version of H.B. 524
- The Senate version of H.B. 524 applies to all historic vehicles and street rods and not just historic vehicles 60 years old and older.
- The Senate version of H.B. 524 would save money, conserve resources and bring Maryland in line with other states that are moving to a single plate requirement.
- The Senate version of H.B. 524 would protect the aesthetic contours of ALL collector cars and relieve vehicle owners of the burden of having to create mounting holes on some original bumpers.
DON’T DELAY! Please contact members of the Conference Committee on H.B. 524 immediately to request their support for the Senate version of H.B. 524.
