Maryland Bill to Allow Single License Plate for Hobby Cars Approved by Committee; Moves to Full Senate

URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT (UPDATE)

Maryland Bill to Allow Single License Plate for Hobby Cars Approved by Committee; Moves to Full Senate

Senate legislation (S.B. 380) to require the issuance of only a single license plate for historic vehicles and street rods was approved by the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee and will be sent to the full Senate for a vote by all members.  A separate bill (H.B. 524) approved by the House is still pending in the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee.  Under the House bill, the single plate option would be available only to owners of Class L (historic vehicles) that are 60 years old and older.  S.B. 380 is a better bill for the hobby.

We Urge You to Contact Members of the Maryland Senate (Contact Info Below) Immediately to Request Support for S.B. 380

  • S.B. 380 would save money, conserve resources and bring Maryland in line with other states that are moving to a single plate requirement.

  • S.B. 380 would protect the aesthetic contours of collector cars and relieve vehicle owners of the burden of having to create mounting holes on some original bumperss.

DON’T DELAY!  Please contact members of the Maryland Senate immediately by phone or e-mail to request their support for S.B. 380.

Please e-mail a copy of your letter to Steve McDonald at stevem@sema.org.  Also, please forward this Alert to your fellow car enthusiasts.  Urge them to join the SAN and help defend the hobby! Thank you for your assistance.
