- H.B. 1623 would protect the aesthetic contours of cars and relieve vehicle owners of the burden of having to create mounting holes on bumpers.
Overview: Legislation (H.B. 1623) has been introduced in the Illinois House of Representatives to require the issuance of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for all newly registered motor vehicles. A similar measure failed to pass during the 2018 legislative session. Under current law vehicles must display two license plates. The bill currently awaits consideration in the House Special Issues Subcommittee.
