  • H.B. 7230 courtesy plate would be available to 25-year-old vehicles regardless of whether or not the vehicles are registered as “antiques.”

Overview: The Rhode Island legislature approved legislation (H.B. 7230) to allow the motor vehicle division to issue a courtesy registration plate to vehicles more than 25 years old. Under the current law, “Antique” plates are available for vehicles that are at least 25 years old and used only for exhibitions, parades, and car club activities. Vehicles currently registered as “Antique” may purchase and display replica Year-of-Manufacture plates with DMV approval. The bill now heads to Governor Raimondo for approval.
