Rhode Island Introduces Bill to Ease Window Tinting Restrictions

  • H.B. 7972 eliminates the current strict standard of 43% light transmittance. 

Overview: Legislation (H.B. 7972) in Rhode Island would mirror the window tinting and window reflectance requirements in Massachusetts. Under current Massachusetts law, non-windshield Window Tinting is allowed if it meets the minimum standard of twenty-five percent light transmittance. The bill has been introduced and referred to the House Committee on Judiciary.
