Overview: The West Virginia Senate introduced two bills to aid in the development of racing events and facilities throughout the state. Legislation (S.B. 666) would provide aid and incentivization for the construction of motorsports complexes by exempting certain building materials from the sales tax and provides the process by which a qualified company may claim the exemption. Separate legislation (S.B. 667) would create the West Virginia Motorsports Committee in order to enhance existing racing at current facilities and develop a strategy to create further opportunities for new and larger events and facilities. Each of these bills have passed committee and await consideration on the Senate Floor.
