Overview: SAN-supported legislation (H. 165) has been introduced in Idaho to add a vehicle registration classification for custom vehicles. The bill defines a custom vehicle as a replica vehicle that is at least 30 years old and designed and manufactured to resemble a vehicle that would qualify for classic license plates. Current law only permits specialty designations for motor vehicles registered as a Classic, Old Timer or Street Rod. As with current specialty designations, a unique license plate would be created for custom vehicles and would allow the display of a single rear-mounted plate. The bill passed the House and awaits consideration in the Senate Transportation Committee.
